About the company

The company was founded in 1969 as Dr. Schrick GmbH by Dr. Peter Schrick (*1934, † 2007). The company started out producing mainly for motor sports, specifically camshafts.

Today, AVL Schrick develops and produces combustion engines and motor components. In 2002, the company joined AVL List and is known as AVL Schrick GmbH since 1 September 2007, making it part of the world’s leading private drive systems developer.

Since the early 2000’s, AVL Schrick concentrates on the development of new, alternative powertrain technologies, such as hybrid technologies in vehicles (2003). The company grew extensively and expanded its site in 2007.  In 2010, AVL Schrick began the series production of cogeneration units. In 2012, the company focused particularly on expanding its small series production (APUs) and on research and development of Waste Heat Recovery.
